This striking image of Winifred (Wini) Shaw was taken during her performance in Rodgers and Hart's Simple Simon which ran at the Majestic Theatre in 1931. The play was produced by, and starred, Ed Wynn. Shaw, a talented singer, would soon have a small run of films in Hollywood, and is best remembered for her sensational performances of "Lullaby of Broadway" in Gold Diggers of 1935, and "Lady in Red" in In Caliente. The still, which is printed on cream-toned paper, has minor corner bumps, and a light corner crease in the top right border. Recto: "Roberts, Boston" written in the negative. Very Fine+.
