Moon King
Patrick Joseph had moved from his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA in late 2008 with nothing more than the hope of turning a box full of demos and the meager contents of a savings account into a new life that better suited him than the small town in which he was raised.
In 2009, Patrick Joseph sold over 2,000 copies of his debut EP "Basement Tapes EP," which is currently still out-of-print. The EP was a complete DIY effort and afforded Joseph a sizable following on MySpace and Facebook.
In 2009 his song 'Arsonist Blues' from "Basement Tapes EP" won top prize in a competition sponsored by Spin Magazine, inviting the interest of indie label Original Signal Records (Ingrid Michaelson, Butch Walker). Joseph passed on the offer, but the experience inspired him to replant his roots out west in the Los Angeles music scene, where he now resides.
Soon after, his debut full-length album "Antiques" was self-recorded, self-produced, performed in solo, and mastered by Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Adam Ayan (Foo Fighters, Incubus, Rolling Stones) at Gateway Mastering in Portland, Maine. The album received critical acclaim from blogs, magazines and radio as well as placement in indie films including the Sundance 2012 entry "The Boys of Abu Ghraib" starring Sean Astin, as well as significant placements with MTV, the CW Network's "Gossip Girl," NBC's "The Office," ABC's "Happy Endings," NBC's "Chicago Fire," and a feature on FuseTV On Demand Cable. Joseph is also composed the title track to the upcoming feature film Spin (2013) directed by Rob Garcia.
In March 2011, Joseph was voted runner-up as the Best Emerging Artist of 2011 by The Deli Magazine.
On November 22nd, 2011 Joseph released a 6-song acoustic EP entitled "Relics," accompanied by several successful YouTube videos to promote the release. In February 2012, "Relics" won an International Acoustic Music Award for Best Male Artist, and was nominated in November 2012 for a Hollywood Music & Media Award in the Folk/Acoustic category.
In January 2012, Joseph was named the Top Indie Artist of 2012 by indie music website Indie-Music.com.
Joseph has performed across the United States from coast to coast on tour and at festivals, most recently as an honored guest at the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival, the Burbank International Film Festival, as a showcasing artist at SXSW 2012 in Austin, TX, a showcasing artist at NXNE 2012 in Toronto, Canada, a showcasing artist at the Cutting Edge Music Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, and CMJ 2012 in New York.
Joseph just finished up a marathon run of shows in March at SXSW 2013, performing 7 dates in 5 days. He is gearing up for an east coast tour followed by a repeat performance at the NXNE Festival in Toronto, CA.
He is currently at work on his second full-length album, Moon King. Even before it's release, the track "Such A Long Time Ago" has been nominated for two awards: An International Acoustic Music Award and just recently, an Independent Music Award.
Moon King is out October 7th, 2014.
