Saxophonist James Martin’s distinctive sound has been a staple in the
New Orleans music scene. James encapsulates the funky yet syncopated
pulse of New Orleans music. He can seamlessly transition between
jazz, funk, mainstream music, blues, making it difficult to place him
in just one genre.
James Martin’s pride for New Orleans cannot be described with words,
only through his music. Louis Armstrong, Ernie K Doe, and Fats Domino
are some of the musical influences that paved his musical journey.
During his studies at NOCCA and Loyola New Orleans College of Music,
James cut his chops performing clubs and second lines in New Orleans.
He traversed New Orleans vibrant musical landscape, playing with icons
such as Dr. John, Lenny Kravitz and Troy
“Trombone Shorty” Andrews, as well as his musical hero,
Allen Toussaint.
Through his appearance on ESPN Monday Night Football and concert at
the Apollo Theater, James has brought the sound of New Orleans to the
