Liner notes: The Strange Brew is the first electric album from a traditionally acoustic band. With this new EP The CrossRoads Project communicates the idea of a live performance by taking what they hope their listeners feel at the live concerts and lacing that vitality into the tracks. The original CrossRoads Project was formed on the stomping grounds of DePaul University’s School of Music in 2009. The group consisted of Nino Arobelidze on rhythm guitar, percussion and lead vocals; her flamenco-playing collaborator, Jim Collinsworth, on lead guitar and percussion and Michael Meyer on drums and percussion. The trio soon became a quartet when Joe Marcus sat in with his upright bass during rehearsals for the Jigsaw album in the spring of 2009, enriching the group's jazz-infused, indie sound. This new body of work was made possible with the musical contributions of Nino Arobelidze on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards and percussion; Joe Marcus on electric bass, acoustic guitar and keyboards; Brett Swenson on drums; Brad Miller on electric guitar; Chris Misa on Hammond B3 organ; Shane Hendrickson on keyboards and a horn section made up of Corbin Andrick on saxophones, Steve Hollander on trombone and Caleb Mitchell on trumpet. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Shane Hendrickson in the beautiful I.V.Lab Studios in Chicago and produced by Nino, Shane and Joe.
