Surviving.
Senseless Beauty really out did themselves with their NEW full length "Surviving.", they worked with producer Don Debiase (Vanilla Ice, Beneath the Sky, Infandous, For All those Sleeping) on shaping up an album that puts them on a new level. This album may sound a bit harder stylewise than their past release "Thoughts of Wolves", but its due to the return of their skilled original drummer Michael Fallis.
The album is also loaded with epic and catchy singing choruses that lead into brutal breakdowns with vocalist Shven Biermann's signiture vocals going along with all his passion he puts out getting their message across. Shven stated "...this album is something I personally had to get out, I went through some devastating personal circumstances right before writing the record, I felt I needed to get some things off my chest and show people how to overcome disaster, just like I did..." You can really see him tell his story on the track "Fear and Loathing in Iowa City."
That signiture Senseless Beauty blend of melodic guitars also shines on this record with guitarists Phil Biermann and Wil Cooper's harmonizing guitars coming together so well along with bassist Ryan Thul's thundering bass giving it a great sound mix.
The main single from this album is called "Reverse the Curse" its a song about reversing the curse of "the day the music died." If your not familiar with that term, its about Buddy Holly playing his last show at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa (Senseless Beauty's home town) where he tragically died after the show in a plane crash just outside of town during a blizzard. The song also touches up on how Holly had been criticized for how hard his style was at the time similar to what Senseless Beauty goes through with some fellow Christians.
The band is planning on shooting a music video for this song at the Surf Ballroom this fall so stay tuned to their web sites for any details.
REVIEWS:
Jerry Myers (First Street Warehouse Venue/YFC Wilmar, MN): "...I can't tell you how much I appreciate a band that is so humble and God fearing... they are far from perfect but they love God, they love the kids who come to their shows and DANG-IT! they play some pretty mean music to boot! I highly suggest that you go see these guys and buy their up coming cd "Surviving" ... I promise that you won't be sorry."
Steve Sloan (Indievisionmusic.com):
...This album is pretty darn good. It is laced with intense riffs and brutal breakdowns. Senseless Beauty has definitely taken their game to the next level compared to their previous efforts. If you like clean and gang vocals mixed in with your metalcore then you definitely need to give Senseless Beauty a shot and go check them out. While melodic metalcore may not be my cup of tea, I understand that a lot of people do. I believe this is a band with a bright future and one worthy of checking out and supporting.
