The Wordslinger

When I was 16, I bought a guitar in a pawn shop in Topeka, Kansas. I bought Guckert's Chord Book, and learned how to play C, F, and G. I began writing songs, and the rest is history. (Well, actually, when my voice finally changed, the rest was history...) Thanks to the love, support and encouragement of my parents, I went to college and law school, kept my songs to myself, and learned how to sublimate a lot. (See, "Hairy Palms".)

However, they say it's hard to keep a good man down. (See, "Hard Luck Marriage".) That's especially true when the man is lucky enough to have a good wife. (See, "Cotton's Song") Thanks to everyone along the way who inspired the lyrics. Whether you are now or ever were a lawyer, Vietnam veteran, hippie, armchair liberal, closet liberal, red neck, hunter, jilted lover, tender lover, Pete Seeger lover, Harvard lover, left handed, or just breathing, this album has lyrics that you helped inspire. (Well, actually, Warren Beatty did not inspire any of the lyrics.) In any event, I hope that
