or over a decade, Latin Gospel Music listeners in the US and abroad have enjoyed the melodic, Latin music of Puchi Colon. Puchi (pronounced ‘poo-chee’) is a Puerto Rican-American musician, singer-songwriter and producer. His passion for his music compliments his sincere love for his savior, Jesus Christ and conviction to advance the Kingdom of God. Puchi recognizes his talent as a gift from God and surrenders it as an offering.
Puchi released his very first album in 1996 titled, “Voy A Comenzar” and people immediately took notice. In 1997, Ralph Hernandez, joined Puchi and formed his band, based out of New Jersey. Since formed, Puchi & his 9 piece band has toured extensively in the United States and the Caribbean.
Surging with the release of his English album “Salsa Praise” (2002), Puchi “broke the mold” and gave the Gospel Music market something that it never really had (Salsa in English). In June of 2003, Puchi was awarded the prestigious honor of being New York’s Christian Radio(970dj) “Artist of the Year” for 2002-2003.
In addition, his 2004 release “Lo Mejor De Mi, Para El” (My best, for Him) won the American Christian Award for “Best Latin CD” and has confirmed his ability to reach a diverse audience. His acceptance in both the Spanish and English markets granted him the ability to reach the masses.
Puchi has also been featured on shows like TBN’s “Praise the Lord”, TCT Network, Puerto Rican Panorama(6ABC) & showcased at Expolit ’04 (Miami, FL). Puchi & his band has also been featured in “Medio Dia Puerto Rico” on WAPA America (PR). Puchi Colon’s goal is to respond to the high calling that God has placed upon his life through music evangelism and worship. He is committed to excellence in producing high quality music not solely for entertainment, but to lift up Jesus Christ and help bring faith to wounded hearts. In 2008 Puchi Colon released his highly anticipated second english album SP2(salsa praise 2). Puchi is mostly known for his cross-cultural style of Christian Salsa music in Spanish & English that fuses elements from Latin, Jazz, Tropical & Gospel music. Puchi is happily married to JoAnn and together they are blessed to have 4 boys. On April 20, 2010, Puchi Colon released his long awaited Spanish album titled “QUE NO PARE”(dont stop the praise), this album features a special participation by his 4 boys on the song “I’ve Realized” and also includes a Duet with Legendary Salsa Artist Bobby Cruz on the song “Mil Razones”.
