For the 16th Singularity release we proudly present Escapade by Villain. After much time spent exploring the underground, hidden world, Villain comes up with a truly cutting edge take on the world of electronica. This album is a hard, hammer forging of Techno, Bass Music, Dubstep and electronic Jazz. Tracks like The Plan, Stakeout and Leave No Trace show signs of Bass Music and Dubstep influence with their thick fluid sub, shuffled percussion and sprinklings of Jazz sensibility all cloaked in darkness. Materials, In Motion and Subterfuge lean more towards Techno stylings, but still remain between-genre. Again the emphasis here is on thick rumbling sub pulses that provide an underlying darkness, but the beats push harder, ready to shake the walls and smash concrete. The album peaks with the title track Escapade, starting dark and broken, and quite subtle, but eventually opening up like a flower to reveal the beautiful colouration if its main melody. Beautiful, funky, epic, touching, and also with the addition of a 303 line, quite rawkus. We are sure this album will be an underground classic for 2012 and those with refined tastes and open minds will be sure to succomb to the shadow of influence cast down by Villain!
