Crossroads of the Heart: C.A.R.E. At Home
C.A.R.E. at Home CDs are original compositions by Susan Mazer and Dallas Smith played on The C.A.R.E.® Channel – the premier relaxation programming watched by thousands of patients in hospitals across the U.S. "Crossroads of the Heart" was composed and recorded for Good Samaritan Health Systems, Kearney, Neb. -- a community that is at the crossroads of four states.
Inspired by sandhill cranes, waves of grain, the heartland of America. When one lives touching so many diverse and similar cultural and artistic expression, the music needs to also reflect the reaching out and embracing beyond oneself.
Melodic, varied, expansive in the ways the instruments sing. Saxophone, lyrical and rich; the bamboo flute is haunting and expressive. The electric wind synthesizer is magic. And, the electro-acoustic harp is larger and sweeter than life.
Mazer and Smith are internationally known performers, composers, and recording artists. They have both traveled the path of classical training and performance, making the transition to the New York stage with world-renowned jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal in 1984.
Their compositions for harp and woodwinds merge the aesthetics of jazz, classical, and world music into an experience that feeds both the intellect and spirit. Extending beyond the boundaries of genre, Mazer and Smith’s unique sound has a richness in melody, rhythm and sonority.
