We are a collective quartet of improvised music featuring the great improviser Daniel Carter (Sun Ra, Sam Rivers, Cecil Taylor) and three musicians from the contemporary Brooklyn scene, Michael Bates (Tyshawn Sorey, Dan Weiss), Deric Dickens (Kirk Knuffke, Jeff Lederer) and Marius Duboule (Jacob Sacks, Tony Malaby).
Zero Point's music is improvised, often spacious and contrapuntal, giving the impression of a known melody or a sonor mass, similar to what the spectral music can sometime evoke. Just like Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler or Eric Dolphy the musicians of this band are also deeply anchored in the tradition of blues and bebop which resurfaces in a pictural way.
