Code Black (Explicit)

As a youngster, Snypse had a strong love for music (mainly Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B). Snypse listened to music for hours via his headphones on a daily basis (Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Outkast, NWA, Dr. Dre, Doug E Fresh, 3rd Bass, AZ, Do or Die, New Edition, BBD & many others). Snypse was always listening to music & had a vision to one day become a significant part of & make a valid contribution to the Hip-Hop culture. With this vision, as an adult, Snypse began reading music industry books, researching music equipment & understanding studio design as well as the music post production processes. Eventually, Snypse started designing his recording & production studio on paper (he had accumulated plenty of books & electronic documentation; but no actual equipment). Snypse’s wife understood his passion for music & surprised him with his first piece of studio equipment on his birthday; a Roland VS1680 Multi-track recorder. From that point on, Snypse sacrificially bought equipment over a span of 2 years until he was finally able to complete his studio. Shortly after, while learning the equipment & working on his production skills, Snypse met Dunn (through his wife & a mutual friend). Dunn was also passionate about Hip-Hop, and although unprofessionally recorded, had made his own demo-type album with about 15 songs (featuring his brother Eazy Gauldin on a few songs). After a few meetings & conversations, Snypse was impressed with Dunn’s creativity & professionalism as well as what he represented as an artist. Collaboration began soon after. Snypse officially met Eazy Gauldin in one of his earlier recording sessions with Dunn & was immediately impressed with his focus, skill level & professionalism. Prior to Snypse building his studio, his brother Silent Mike had created three unprofessionally recorded demo-type albums (which featured Snypse on a few songs). Silent Mike was a very creative & prolific artist. To make things official, Snypse designed a logo & created an independent record label out of Brick House University, which was founded by Silent Mike & Snypse prior to meeting Dunn & Eazy Gauldin. Snypse continued fine-tuning his production, recording & mixing skills. Once Snypse felt he had learned enough (although that’s a never ending cycle), he decided that it was time to produce an album & called upon Dunn, Eazy Gauldin & Silent Mike for collaboration. The outcome was ‘Code Black’; the first official release of Brick House University (an independent record label)!
