Houston Person, the definitive soul-jazz tenor saxophonist of the past 30 years, is in excellent form on this early session. Teamed with trombonist Curtis Fuller , baritonist Pepper Adams , pianist Cedar Walton , bassist Bob Cranshaw , and drummer Frankie Jones , Person holds his own with the better-known horn players and takes a brief vacation from his usual organ group. The music is both straight-ahead and bluesy with Cedar Walton 's "Holy Land" and "Please Send Me Someone to Love" being the highpoints.
